Stool Establishment
A single coppice stool can live for centuries, often outlasting the trees around it many times over.
Some coppice stools record stand history in their rings, revealing past cutting cycles, droughts and even forgotten management rhythms.
Many coppice species show strong bioregional “accents”, with local provenances adapting to soil, rainfall and microclimate over thousands of years.
